No, that isn’t a typo.  They name of the hotel is THEhotel at Mandalay Bay.  It’s the cool and hip way to spell it, because it’s a cool and hip hotel and spa.

Where most spas go for a soft and feminine look and feel, the bathhouse goes for hard lines and cool textures of slate, marble and glass.  When I visited in the spring of 2005 or 2006 (the years are all blending together), the color scheme was distinct:  grey, black and red.   The black and grey are still there, but they have livened things up a bit with the use of more bright colors.

At 14,000 square feet, the bathhouse is on the small side by Vegas standards.  But this only adds to the European vibe.  The treatment menu continues with the cool and hip theme – especially some of the more exotic manicures/pedicures and treatment add-ons.

The spa features 3 whirlpools of varying temperatures:  hot (pictured above), warm and a cold plunge pool.

If your visiting Las Vegas and only have the time and budget for one spa visit, the bathhouse would probably not be the most well rounded choice.  It’s modern vibe may not be for everyone.  It doesn’t have a warm and cozy feel that you get from many spas, but this may be appreciated by some.  It certainly is a unique experience.
